These switch covers are quick and easy to do and the pattern and color combinations are almost endless!
Step 1: Lightly spray your favorite Shade-Tex® Texture Plate with water, to act as a "mold release".
Step 2: Place the flattened piece of conditioned clay on the Shade-Tex® Texture Plate and roll the clay with a rolling pin to emboss the texture. If using a pasta machine, pass clay through the widest setting.
Step 3: Peel the clay away from the Shade-Tex(® Texture Plate and place it textured side face down.
Step 4: Place the light switch cover face down on the clay. Trim with 1/4" selvage.
Step 5: Wrap the edge of the clay up and around the sides of the light switch cover and trim it to the back edge.
Step 6: Trim and open up the area for switch and screws.
Step 7: Flip the piece over and apply Pearl Ex colors to the high relief areas of the textured design.
Step 8: Bake clay/switch plate as directed by manufacturers' instructions. Cool.
Step 9: Use the small paint brush and add a color wash of Lumiere paint to the clay surface. Interesting effects can be achieved by using contrasting colors. Use a damp cloth to remove excess.
Step 10: Allow to air dry.
Step 11: Install and enjoy!
