Project Designed by Erik HOMEMADE®

No need to be frightened away when these little spiders drop in...simple scrapbook paper and bright colored pompons will make even the biggest arachnophobe smile! However, beware! You will want to make a lot--to hang all over the house!
 | Step 1: From the scrapbook paper, punch two spiders. Score a line with the pin and straight edge down the middle of the spider, from the abdomen down through the head. Make sure the line is centered.
**Because of the intricacy of the spider legs, some paper punches do better on lighter weight papers while others are strong enough to punch through cardstock. Test your punch on different weights of paper and use the heaviest it will accommodate. We used a spider punch from Martha Stewart Crafts/EK Success and cardstock to make our spiders. |
 | Step 2: Cut off the abdomen across the body (from leg to leg) just after the last set of legs, as shown in the project photo below. Repeat for second spider piece. Fold each head/body unit in half along the scored line. With a small amount of tacky glue, glue the folded edges together (when opened the spider bodies should form an X); allow to dry. |
 | Step 3: With the needle and a long, knotted thread, pass through the center of the colored pompon. Pull the knot well into the pompon to hide it. |
 | Step 4: When thoroughly dry, open the spider and separate the legs. When you look down through the spider, you should see an X formed where the legs and body meet. Place a dot of tacky glue along the edges of the formed X and center the pompon, knot side towards the body. Allow to dry. |
 | Step 5: To hang spider, tie a slipknot in the loose end of the thread, hang in the desired location. Wait for the screams! |
