Description:
Project courtesy of Sarah Forhan Enterprises with permission Granted by Bowdabra® to use their product(s) in this craft.

This is a unique spin on an old tradition; Jack O’ Lanterns! However, instead of using pumpkins we used oranges. The Orange Jack O’ Lanterns can be used in a variety of ways; place them in a fruit bowl and use them as a centerpiece for a Halloween Party, or hand them out to Trick or Treaters for a healthy fun alternative to Halloween candy.

Step 1: Begin by gathering all of your materials. Oranges can easily be found at your local market. The craft supplies can be found at your local craft supply store. The Mini Bowdabra® and Bowdabra® Bow Wire help to simplify this craft, however they are not necessary. Instead of Bowdabra® Bow Wire pipe cleaners will work, as well. A bow can be made by hand instead of using the Mini Bowdabra (see step 4).

Step 2: Cut two strips of 3” wide orange tulle approximately 16” long. Form an “X” with the strips and place the orange in the center. Gather the tulle at the top of the orange and tie it tightly with either Bowdabra® Bow Wire or a pipe cleaner.

Step 3: (Option 1) Form a Scrunchy Bow using the 3” wide Festive Colored Tulle and the Mini Bowdabra®. Cut an 18” piece of Bowdabra® Bow Wire and fold it in half. Place it into the center of the Mini Bowdabra®. Run the tulle into the center of the Mini Bowdabra®, shape will be similar to an accordion (approximately 24” of tulle), cut away ribbon, and scrunch it down with the Mini Bowdabra® Wand. Thread the two ends of the Bowdabra® Bow wire through the hole that was made when you folded it in half. Pull the Bowdabra® Bow wire tightly, pull the bow from the Mini Bowdabra®, and tie the Bowdabra® Bow Wire in the back of the bow. Fluff the bow and attach it around the top of the orange tulle.

Step 4: (Option 2) Form a Scrunchy Bow using the 3” wide Festive Colored Tulle and pipe cleaners. Cut a piece of 24” tulle, gather the tulle and begin to fold it together in an accordion fashion. Wrap a piece of pipe cleaner tightly around the center of the tulle. Fluff your bow and attach it around the top of the orange tulle.

Step 5: Once bow has been attached spiral either the Bowdabra® Bow Wire or the pipe cleaner tightly around a pencil, for fun ringlets.

Step 6: Using black card stock design and cut out fun pumpkin face shapes. Helpful Hint: Design shapes using a white crayon or a white colored pencil.

Step 7: Adhere pumpkin face shapes to the orange tulle using glue dots.

Step 8: Place several finished Orange Jack O’ Lanterns into a fruit bowl for a festively frightful centerpiece. Or hand the Orange Jack O’ Lanterns out to Trick or Treaters for a healthy fun alternative to candy.
