Project coutesy of Reminisce - Designed by Tami Sanders
Designer Notes: I would recommend using a liquid adhesive like Zip Dry to adhere the papers for this project.
Step 1: Divide a side of your wood trash container into thirds and create templates for cutting your papers, to do this: Lay your wood trash container on its side on a large piece of paper and trace around it.
Step 2: Place a mark at the center of the dips of each of the two scallops along the top edge, then measure the bottom edge and place a mark at the center.
Step 3: Measure 1” out from each side of that mark, and mark again. Finally, draw a line from the marks at the top edge down to the outer marks at the bottom edge. Cut the three pieces apart and label – “left, right and center”.
Step 4: Paint the inside of the container, as well as along the outside corners and top and bottom edges using black paint. {you don’t have to paint the entire outside, just the portions that will show once the papers have been applied}. Set aside to dry.
Step 5: Paint the wood “T” black and set aside to dry.
Step 6: Use your template to cut out 4 of each “left, right and center” sections. In the sample, “design” paper such as the pumpkin, witch and black cat papers were used for the center sections, and “accent” paper such as the dots and striped papers were used for the left and right sections.
Step 7: Adhere the cut papers to all four sides of the container; use a brayer or your hand to be sure each makes good contact.
Step 8: Distress edges of papers along top, bottom and corners using black chalk ink.
Step 9: Use strips from the Ribbon Sticker Sheet to cover where the sections meet on all 4 sides of the container. Trim excess sticker from each end.
Step 10: To add the paper ruching along the top; apply double sided tape along top edge of container. Then tear strips {about 1 ½” wide} of the orange and white polka dot paper. Ink torn edges of strips using black ink, then roughly pleat the strips just along the top edge, and adhere as you go to the double sided tape. Continue adding, pleating and adhering strips until the entire top edge is done, overlap beginning of first strip slightly to finish.
Step 11: Use white gel pen to add dot design to edge of wood “T”.
Step 12: Apply label sticker to center section of the “front” of your container at a slight slant.
Step 13: Tie ribbons to wood “T” and then adhere letter over the left edge of the label.
Step 14: Add “reats” using alpha stickers after the “T” on the label.
Step 15: Apply stickers from quote sheet as desired to embellish the front of the treat bucket.
