Craft Materials:

  • One jelly roll or 2 1/2 inch wide strips cut across the width o fthe fabric (divide into 18 light and 22 dark, or 18 strips of one color and 22 in another)
  • 23 1/2 in (60cm) fabric for centers and stars
  • 20 in (50cm) fabric for borders
  • 20 in (50cm) fabric for binding

Description:
When thinking of patterns using strips, the log cabin design comes to mind immediately. How could we possibly leave it out? Any jelly roll could be divided roughly into lights and darks and made up into a log cabin quilt. Here we have added the sparkle of a hidden star. It is not a difficult pattern but the last couple of logs in every block requires a bit of thought!

Our festive quilt is made up in the sumptuous country reds and greens from designer Terry Clothier Thompson. We chose a white fabric with a tiny gold spot for our hidden stars.
